A discussion was had regarding inventory tagging of the Otero provided picnic tables and benches for the Mary Glover Park, also planning for proposed walking trails and signage needs to move into high gear, as the weather will be changing and the project is nearing completion. Bill Gideon said, “the weather station had been purchased and a contract for fencing of the area has been given to a company out of Ruidoso.” Weather permitting the fence should be in place by the end of February. The station will be located on the tie-down area of the airstrip. B.F Adams and Bill Daniels have offered used computers to support the station. A recommendation was made to contact Chuck DeBroader with Channel 9 in El Paso to see if he would use the station to include Timberon in his weather report. Rick Merrick reported the REDTT scheduled meeting for January had been cancelled. Grant funds approved for the creation of a Timberon brochure were returned and application would be reconsidered for later this fiscal year. A suggestion was made to establish a Special Events Committee to help provide support (technical or volunteer) for those wishing to sponsor an event that would bring tourism to the community. Projects could be: Walks, Runs, 4th of July Events, Fund Raisers, Bike Rides, Trail Rides, or Music Events. More discussion will be needed to refine a Special Events Committee. Gwen Adams will create a letter for placement in the newspaper regarding the funds available for a 4th of July Event. A presentation request for funding will be made to the Council regarding anticipated use of funds and means for replenishing the funds. The tree cutters working on the Shallow Creek Park are nearing completion based on weather conditions. They will be moving over to an area located near Tres Marias and running along the river. A motion was made by Fran Trendler to adjourn at 11:10 am. and seconded by B.F. Adams. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Fran Trendler, Facilitator
