The Fire Department will be present and the roads will be watered down prior to the event. Donna Millar read the current fire restrictions dated 06-13-08. Rick Merrick asked if they were from the county or the state? It was from the state and Rick will pursue the county restrictions. Rick advised we will adhere to the most restrictive fire restrictions in effect that day. B. F. Adams went over the parking at the Mary Glover Park. Parking will be located on the back side of the park and you can reach this area by turning right off Ruby onto Valley. There will also be a designated “Drop Off” on Ruby. Parking on Ruby will be limited in order to leave an area for emergency vehicles. Over Page 2 Everett thanked B. F. Adams, Gwen Adams and John Howell for setting the steps at the bridge in the Mary Glover Park. The material came from the Red Barn. B.F. advised there is more work to do and he might get the cross ties Ronny Rardin volunteered at our last meeting. He also thanked Steve Griffith for mowing the park and B.F. Adams for providing the 20 ft. flag and foundation that is installed in the Mary Glover Park. He thanked J. R. and Lil Devine for building the horseshoe pits and putting polyurethane on the tables and benches in the park. Everett Putney advised the $50,000.00 grant was approved to re-enter the parks and cut the trees up to twelve inches on approximately 59 acres. Circle Cross will take the larger trees and the smaller trees need to be chipped. The South Central Mountain RC&D meeting was held in Timberon in May and there was a tour at the Circle Cross Ranch to see a demonstration of their masticator. The problems at the two slash pits and the dry lake was discussed. Everett advised RC&D is looking for projects to fund. The Circle Cross Ranch would use their masticator to help clean up the problem for $20,000.00. RC&D cannot afford to pay this amount and alternatives were discussed. One option would be to use the BLM Chipper which would require someone to run it and someone to feed the chipper. The chips would be available to the community without a charge. There is a Volunteer Eco Servant Group that provides free labor and we would have to provide food for them etc. There was further discussion and it was mentioned Fire Chief Arden Schug would like to see the slash at the dry lake pushed in. There will be more on this problem at the next meeting. Bill Gideon, Chairman of the Community Action Plan revision was unable to attend today. He sent word his committee has had two meetings to update the plan. The committee was enlarged and Bill has delegated responsibiities. Fran Trendler gave the committee the history of the plan. Everett introduced the new member of the TWSD Board, Joe Mainello and his wife Karin. Joe advised the TWSD meetings have changed from the 3rd Saturday of the month to the 4th Saturday each month and invited everyone to attend. He looks forward to working on the TWSD Board. Jack Doll advised volunteers are needed to work on the swimming pool and if you are interested in helping please call him. The Timberon Brochure that Sid Benson and Fran Trendler worked on was discussed and those present felt it was a little early to disseminate this. Pricing needs to be looked at and it was suggested to check with Bennett Printing in Alamogordo. Rick Merrick advised TDC is looking for projects and should look at a good will drive for those in need in Timberon. The Angel Food Ministries was discussed and Gwen Adams advised the Timberon Chapel has adopted this program. It costs $30 per person for the basic food package and the menu changes each month. To learn more about this program you may go to angelfoodministries.com and click on your state. Fran Trendler made a motion to adjourn and Scott Millar seconded it. The motion passed. These meetings are held the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Timberon Development Council Office, 1841 Sacramento Drive. They are open meetings and everyone is invited.
