Motion was made to accept the report and passed. There were no bills for the month of July 2011. Fran Trendler noted that all treasurer reports are public information and a viewing may be requested at anytime. Old Business – Rick Merrick said, “the block grant will begin again within the next week with approximately 20 acres remaining to be thinned. Also the WUI money has yet to be released for private property owners to thin their properties. It is important that those interested parties email Mike Caggiano at mcaggiano@scmrd.org to be put on the thinning list.” BLM Grant money is still remaining, to be used for Community Outreach and Fire Mitigation. Previously it has been voted to buy another 500 DVD’s to mail to property owners who might potentially want to thin. The monies will also cover the cost of postage. A letter was received from Richard Farris of the Timberon Volunteer Fire Department requesting a donation to help fund a project that would provide Smoke Detectors, batteries and installation to the Community. A motion to donate was made by Rick Merrick seconded by Charlie Ross to donate between $400/$500 for the project with the prospect of purchasing three chimney sweeps to be used for the community, the motion carried. Funds will be provided from the 2010 BLM Grant. Shirley Holstrom gave a committee report on the job description of the Events Cooridinator Position. Discussion was had and the group decided to table any decision at this time and meet again after the TDC Meeting to decide on a salary structure, expected duties and number of events to be brought before the Council at the next meeting. B.F. Adams gave a report on the status of the Business Map. He has contacted all business owners to renew, many ads have renewed and several have not renewed. One slot remains open. This map has become a valuable asset to the community. Everett gave a report on the activities at the county affecting the community. He will be meeting with the new County Manager in the near future. Shirley Holstrom is to check over the current contract the Council has to maintain the airstrip and report back at the next Council meeting. Reports were given on the Labor Day Activities. A Fire Department breakfast, Community Potluck dinner at the Mary Glover Park , Labors of Love exhibition and Puttin’ on the Lips. If it should rain, the Potluck dinner will be held at the Redbarn, Timberon Development Council Office. Judy Underwood requested the Council sponsor the Labor of Love and pay the $100 cost of using the restaurant area for 9 hrs. Motion was made to pay $100 by Jan Sweeney, seconded by John Noel. Motion passed. Everett Putney stated the position of Treasurer is still open and it is hoped the community will step-up to fill that position. NEW BUSINESS – Fran Trendler suggested the Council consider the purchasing of a tent or tents for the purpose of Special Events. At this time, the cost of building a permanent structure at the Mary Glover Park is prohibitive, along with a monthly charge for electric and water at the site. A tent and possibly a generator is a more viable avenue. Fran was tasked with looking into the cost of a tent. Also Fran Trendler brought up the idea of building a Visitors Center on the property adjacent to Sacramento Road to display brochures and maps. This facility would be similar to the ones used by the U.S. Forest Service with display area on both sides. Jackie Fioretti and Everett Putney had previously offered a space on this property. Everett Putney had offered to design this facility. NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Timberon Development Council will be held at the Timberon Lodge, September 10, 2011, 10:00 AM. Respectfully submitted Fran Trendler, Facilitator
