Bills that totaled $273.10 for the month of February were submitted by Gwen Adams. A motion was made by Mary Tyler and seconded by Cal Tyler to pay the bills. Motion passed. Old Business: Rick Merrick gave a report on the first July 4th meeting held on January 19th at Jane Huisingh’s home. Jane is having surgery and couldn’t be here today. We wish her well. It was decided to have the July 4th event on Saturday June 30th and Sunday July 1st. It will be called the “Southern Sacramento Blues and Barbecue Fest”. Rick is working with a member of the El Paso Blue’s Society on the music to be provided. There will be arts and crafts and vendors and this is all in the planning stage. The event will be held in back of the community center and we will need volunteers to get the sight prepared. A paid July 4th Coordinator was approved at the last meeting. Rick Merrick volunteered for the position. Gwen Adams made a motion to pay the July 4th Coordinator $15.00 per hour plus 45˘ per mile for travel and $95.00 per-diem for overnight travel. The motion was seconded by Bobbie Brown and it was approved. Jackie Fioretti requested an itemized statement be submitted for each payment. The audit committee report is postponed until the next meeting. The audit has been completed and Jackie Fioretti will follow up on the paper work. The Timberon Development Council, Inc. is a member of the Cloudcroft Chamber of Commerce. Jackie Fioretti advised she submitted the form to join the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce on line and will follow up on this as we have not heard from them or received a bill for the dues. Rick Merrick gave an update on the LINTERO COOP (Lincoln & Otero Coop). The Articles of Incorporation and the By-Laws are in progress. It looks like it will be a profit coop and each member would buy in at $200.00 and receive one share. The coop would be a bio mass plant. Government funding for these projects are slowly going away. Rick is a board member on this coop. To help support TWSD (Timberon Water and Sanitation District), the Timberon Development Council has asked a local contractor to give us a bid on renovating the sidewalk in front of the community center and over Page 2 make it a handicap ramp. It was suggested that the handicap ramp should be at the side of the building because of the snow that comes off the roof in front of the building when it starts to melt. It was also suggested that perhaps we could help with the light out front that stays on for one hour and then goes off. The kitchen also needs repairs. Everett Putney advised there will be a helicopter training flight in Timberon on February 13th. The military unit consists of 4-5 helicopters and is from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Fran Trendler has put a notice on the bulletin board and other locations in the community so others are aware of the training mission. Nice job on the flyer Fran. New Business: Rick Merrick advised he is a board member of a five member board looking into Bio Mass. Bio Mass is anything green ie. slash and instead of burning it what can it be used for? There is a plant in Ruidoso which the byproduct is diesel and electricity. It was mentioned there are 23 tons of slash per acre. The committee is in the process of compiling Articles of Incorporation and looking into being a co-op. TDC may be asked to do more in the way of bio mass in the future. Bobbie Brown advised her husband, Bill spoke to the New Mexico Pilot Association and they have tentatively established May 18, 19 & 20 as a good time for a Fly-In. TDC would sponsor this event. There will be more discussion on this at the next meeting. Rick Merrick gave a report on the t-shirts he checked into as a money making project. The company is in Ruidoso. There is no set up fee, long sleeve t-shirts are $12.00 and short sleeve t-shirts are $9.00. No decision was made today on this. B. F. Adams advised there is also a company that makes logos on paper plates. A motion to adjourn was made by Gwen Adams and seconded by Bobbie Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am. The next meeting of the Timberon Development Council will be held at the Timberon Lodge, March 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM. These are open meetings and anyone may attend. Respectfully submitted, Jackie Fioretti, Secretary
