Pledge Allegiance to the Flag was given, and a prayer was offered by B. F. Adams. Everett asked if anyone wanted the minutes read. A motion was made by B. F. Adams and seconded by Fran Trendler to accept the February minutes. Motion passed. B. F. Adams requested a reminder of the meeting be sent to those who have email. Jackie Fioretti said she would do this in the future. Shirley Holstrom gave the Treasurer’s Report for February 2012. A correction was made to the report. A motion was made by Jane Huisingh and seconded by Charlie Ross to accept the report as corrected and the motion passed. Bills that totaled $187.32 for the month of March were submitted by Shirley for approval. A motion was made by Fran Trendler and seconded by Charlie Ross to pay the bills. Motion passed. Old Business: Jackie Fioretti read the report of the Audit Committee. The audit was conducted on January 25, 2012. A motion was made by B.F. Adams and seconded by Karin Mainello to accept the Audit Report. The motion was approved. Everett Putney advised he talked to Bill Brown and three pilots have signed up for the Fly-In scheduled in May. Thanks Bill for the nice job on the Fly-In registration and information. Rick Merrick, Events Coordinator, reported representatives from the “El Paso Blues Society” will be here today and there will be a meeting with them after this meeting. Tentatively there will be five to six bands and the hours for the “Timberon Sacramento Blues and Barbecue Fest” will be as follows: Saturday, June 30th 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. and Sunday, July 1st 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Rick invited those present to stay for lunch and the meeting afterwards. B. F. Adams made a motion and seconded by Fran Trendler to reimburse Jane Huisingh $87.41 she spent to provide the lunch. The motion passed. Rick advised the festivities have been moved from the back of the Timberon Lodge to the front. Approximately two dozen volunteers will be needed that weekend. Rick Merrick gave an update on the Lintero Coop (Lincoln & Otero Coop). This is a bio mass group out of Ruidoso. They have confirmation to do treatment on fifty acres. They also have donations for an office and equipment. How all of this will effect Timberon is still to be determined. At the last meeting it was mentioned that perhaps we could help TWSD with some of the maintenance required on and around the Timberon Community Lodge. It was suggested that we communicate with the new TWSD Manager Ronnie Wyatt and see how we can help. over Page 2 New Business: Everett Putney gave a report that Otero County is going to repair the information sign on the Airstrip and the radio frequencies have been given to them. The County is also planning to stripe the paved roads in September, 2012. The military helicopter training flight for last month was cancelled due to bad weather and has not been rescheduled. Jackie Fioretti advised TDC has received a bid of $1,500 on the San Juan property, Unit T8, Blk 86, Lot 57. After discussion, Charlie Ross made a motion to accept the bid and it was seconded by Shirley Holstrom. The motion was approved. Jackie will contact the couple in Switzerland who wants to donate their property and ask them to initiate a warranty deed from there. Shirley Holstrom read the communications received in the mail. Shantel Kuene with the Timberon Youth Boosters is requesting us to sponsor several Timberon children to swim at the Timberon swimming pool this summer. The cost is $75.00 per child. There are approximately 24 children in Timberon. After discussion, Fran Trendler made a motion to sponsor three children by giving a donation to the Timberon Youth Boosters for $225.00. Rachel McCormick seconded the motion and it passed. The Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce welcomed the Timberon Development Council as a new member on their Digital Sign. Shirley advised we received a notice of free membership training on March 15, 2012 from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Burr Holstrom volunteered to attend this training and report at the next meeting. The Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce annual banquet is scheduled for April 14 at the Tays Special Events Center. The cost is $30.00 per person to attend. The Cloudcroft Jeep Jamboree will be every month on the fourth Saturday. The first one is scheduled for March 24th at 10:00 am at the Crosseyed Moose. We received an email from Linda Lea informing us of the NM Humanities Council‘s Chatauqua Program. They provide speakers and performers on a wide range of subjects related to New Mexico music, history, culture, arts etc. They will come to our event for a fee of $100.00 since we are a 501(c)3 non profit organization. Thanks Linda for the information. Jane Huising reported they are working on remodeling the building for the “Timberon Art Gallery”. There was discussion of fund raisers and disk golf in the Mary Glover Park. Jane will email the information on disk golf to Jackie Fioretti. A motion to adjourn was made by Shirley Holstrom and seconded by B. F. Adams. The meeting was adjourned at 11:22am. The next meeting of the Timberon Development Council will be held at the Timberon Lodge, April 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM. These are open meetings and anyone may attend.
